Growth and the future
In Kentucky, the birthplace of the UDDP model, the success of the Underwood & Lee Clinic has been recognized throughout the state. Patients and their families drive great distances - sometimes as far as 220 miles each way - to obtain services at the clinic. The program continues to grow.
In September of 2005, an expansion plan was finalized, which will dramatically increase the size and scope of the program. The proposed new program will not only provide primary medical and dental care to community-based people with intellectual disabilities; it will provide behavioral and behavioral crisis intervention services, as well. This new incarnation of the program will serve as the interdisciplinary outpatient healthcare center for thousands of people with ND/ID.
